Welcome To Miracles Prisoner Ministry

ImageGreetings and welcome!  Thank you for your interest in the Miracles Prisoner Ministry.  We are grateful you are here and hope you find our Site both informative and inspiring.  We would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about MPM and our focus for the foreseeable future.

Let’s begin with MPM’s approach with legal matters and the “system” we are often asked to address.  MPM is not a political organization nor are we political activists.  We have no direct involvement with prison reform of any kind.  MPM is not a “legal counseling” service.  We do not get involved with any court proceedings, including appeals, sentence reduction, etc.  Finally, we do not provide any re-entry services such as housing, job placement, clothing, or things of that nature.

So, who are we and what do we do?

We are a Ministry; a Prisoner Ministry.  YOur focus is Spiritual and on the individual looking for help.  We freely offer a variety of spiritual reading materials. We provide a year-long Spiritual Recovery Correspondence Course for those in need of a more structured Program.  We also offer Spiritual Training Classes on-site for those who are physically incarcerated.

We utilize the Bible, the 12-Step Program and A Course in Miracles,
simply because that is what worked for us!!!

Now to the “heart” of who we are.  Over and over, we experience the devastation, loneliness and pain of a generation of men and women incarcerated because of the “war on drugs” around the world.  Our prisons are terribly overcrowded and we house more of our citizens than ever before.  Yet, we never seem to “win” this war.  Why?  Is it really a “war” or is it a sign of the immense spiritual deprivation our country now suffers from?  We are not speaking of a dogma or institution in particular; we are addressing the TRUE lack of a spiritual connection with a Higher Power.

ImageNo one asks the question: “Why do so many human beings seek drugs/sedation/escape?”  The Truth of the matter is; the problems we face as a people, as a nation, are caused directly by a loss of our sense of individual worth and purpose in a Divine Plan.  We believe that, to fill an ever growing chasm in people’s spiritual lives, they must learn to depend on their Higher Power.  We may call this Higher Power - Creator, Source, Supreme Architect, Single Source of Reality, or simply God. MPM remains nondenominational and ministers to all faiths and beliefs.

Today the general trend is to address the symptoms or effects of antisocial behavior.  Yet, addressing the “EFFECTS/SYMPTOMS” (drug/alcohol abuse, domestic violence, or criminal actions of any kind) does not address the CAUSE/PROBLEM.  Rather, it is merely avoiding the true problem; thereby skirting the issue in its entirety and perpetuating that which society says it wishes to remedy.  Healing and Recovery begin when an inmate (anyone) accepts the premise of “Self-Responsibility” (not blaming others for their situation) and accepts God-Dependency, since God is the solution to all our problems.  This step is crucial; as long as think “others” take away our power to choose and to do what is right, we fall prey to hopelessness and despondency.  Self-Responsibility insures that any individual can be “reborn” into a state of Grace, where Love and Forgiveness enter into their lives and the lives of those close to them.  When this maturation in thinking occurs; recidivism ends!!!

Faith based organizations like the Miracles Prisoner Ministry utilize a teaching as old as humanity itself; God Dependency…God will do for me what I cannot do for myself; if I let Him.  Turning our will and our life over to the care of God is vital to living a Spiritual-Centered life.  Without God there is no real hope. Without God, we wander meaninglessly through the trials of life, a victim of sickness, pain and death; rather than co-creators of Love and Peace…which is what we are in Truth.

We recognize we are all prisoners of our own thoughts; hence, our service is not limited to only those physically incarcerated, but to anyone who has imprisoned him/herself in any way.  Please join with us in supporting all those who wish to change.

God Bless Us…and bless these next years of service to all those in need of letting God back into their lives.

In Service and Gratitude,
Rev. Michael Lyon and Rev. Joan Lea
And the entire MPM Staff

Mission Statement

As a worldwide Ministry, it is our purpose to serve all those asking for help, who are incarcerated in any way.

As a Faith based organization, our Ministry is founded on the teachings of Jesus Christ in the New Testament, a 12-Step Program based on Alcoholics Anonymous and A Course in Miracles. The Miracles Prisoner Ministry provides inmates, families, communities, institutions & their staff with written literature, audio/visual tapes and CD's, as well as, on-site individualized self-help training programs.

All services and materials presented by the Miracles Prisoner Ministry seek to aid in the change of an inmate's mind from one of fostering hate and fear to one fostering forgiveness, peace, self-determination and cooperation; a process that will show every inmate that any term of incarceration can be changed from one of futility, despair, hatred and anger to an opportunity for positive, miraculous, inner self-change.

THE 12-STEP COMMUNITY and MIRACLES PRISONER MINISTRY

The 12-Step Community, in its entirety, is an integral part of the Miracles Prisoner Ministry Program and the reintegration of former inmates into mainstream society. Here is a real opportunity for you to personally practice your own 12th Step. Remember, you couldn't do it alone. Neither can anyone else.

So come on…step up & step out.

We encourage you to print off the entire website or the sections you like and mail them to your friend or family member who is incarcerated. Share with them our vision and yours, of love, forgiveness and healing.
We are sure they will enjoy it. Click here for a PDF file
